Who we are
yacht·ai is a maintenance-records and AI assistant service for boats. It is operated by Community Chain LLC, a Washington limited liability company trading as Yacht AI (“we”, “us”). The app is at myachtai.com.
yacht·ai is an integration on the Brokkr platform, and you sign in with a Brokkr account. Brokkr and yacht·ai are separate services: yacht·ai keeps its own database, and Brokkr stores none of your yacht·ai data and cannot read it. This policy covers the yacht·ai app, mail sent to your boat's yacht·ai email address, this website and its “Request access” form. Brokkr's own privacy policy covers your Brokkr account.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. Where the two disagree about your data, this policy applies.
What we collect
Your account, from Brokkr
When you sign in, Brokkr tells us:
- an opaque Brokkr user ID (a random identifier, not your name);
- your display name;
- your email address, only if you allow Brokkr to share it.
That is all we get from Brokkr. We never receive your Brokkr password.
Your boats and equipment
Whatever you or your crew add, whatever the assistant files after you confirm it, and whatever mail from a sender you approved files on its own (see below): boat details (name, make, model, hull ID, length), the equipment installed and where, service history, observations and symptoms, procedures and checklists, due items, and the people with access to each boat.
Documents, photos and voice notes
- Documents you upload: manuals, invoices, surveys, insurance papers, registration and anything else you send in.
- Photos: equipment labels, observations, symptoms, damage.
- Voice notes: voice capture is available only to selected users. When you use it, we store the recording and its transcript.
Uploading a document is how you ask us to process it. We read it, pull out the facts (equipment, part numbers, dates, costs) and show you what we found as drafts to confirm.
Mail sent to your boat's address
Each boat can have its own email address, so invoices and manuals can reach its records without you uploading them. We receive, store and process all mail sent to that address. That includes mail from people outside yacht·ai, such as vendors and manufacturers. The owner decides who gets the address, so please only give it to people you want to hear from.
For each message we store:
- the message as it arrived, with its attachments;
- the documents we file from it, such as invoices and manuals, which become boat records like any upload;
- the sender's address, and the addresses the owner approves as senders;
- what our checks made of it: what kind of mail it is, whether it really came from the sender, and what it filed.
Approved senders. The owner can approve senders, such as a yard or a vendor, and choose what their mail may do. Mail from an approved sender can file records on its own, within those choices, but only when we can confirm it really came from that sender. Anything filed this way can be undone for 30 days. Everything else waits for you to decide.
Links in mail. When an approved sender's mail links to a document, such as an online invoice, we fetch it for you so it can be filed. We don't open links in mail from anyone else, unless you ask us to process that message.
Copies to the owner. Unless the owner turns copies off, we send a copy of the mail the boat receives to the email on the owner's account. We skip spam, auto-replies, mail held back because too much arrived at once, and mail that already reached the owner. If we can't process a message, we send the owner a copy even with copies off.
Conversations with the assistant
When you use Ask AI we store your questions, the assistant's answers, the sources it cited and a summary of the conversation, so the assistant can remember context for that boat. If you flag an answer as wrong, we keep the question, the answer you got, what you expected, and which model and instructions produced it, so we can fix the problem.
Information about other people
You may give us information about other people: when you invite someone, when you give crew, a captain, a manager or a service provider access to a boat, or when your documents name a yard, a surveyor or a technician. Please only share what you have a right to share. Mail sent to your boat's address carries its sender's name and email address, and whatever they wrote.
Requests for early access
If you ask for early access on this website we collect:
- your email address and name;
- if you choose to tell us: your region, boat type, boat length, how you heard about us and any notes;
- the page you came from and any campaign tags in the link.
We use your IP address briefly, in memory, to stop the form being flooded. We do not store it. The form gives your browser a one-time code, valid for 24 hours, so you can add the optional details; we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of that code.
Usage and billing records
For every AI call we record what kind of task it was, which model ran, how much it used, what it cost us and who it was for. We use these records to apply usage limits and keep the service affordable. We also record your trial dates, your subscription status, and which version of our Terms you accepted, when, and on which version of the app.
Technical records
- Error records. When something breaks we record what failed and where. These records never contain your conversations, documents, photos or passwords; they hold only reference IDs.
- Tool-call records. When the assistant uses one of its tools (for example, “search this boat's manuals”) we record the tool, its inputs and result, how long it took, and your Brokkr user ID. These can contain boat details. We keep them in full for 90 days, then only as daily counts.
- Server logs. Our servers write operational logs. We don't write email addresses to them in plain text.
What we don't collect
We run no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics and no third-party error-tracking service. We do not sell your data.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use only what the app needs to work. Nothing here is for advertising or tracking.
| Name | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
yacht_ai_session (cookie) | Keeps you signed in | 30 days |
yacht_ai.session_jwt, yacht_ai.session_user | The same sign-in, readable by the app | Until you sign out |
yacht_ai.active_boat_id | Remembers which boat you were looking at | Until you sign out |
yacht_ai.chat.* | Reopens your last conversation for each boat | Until you sign out, or the tab closes |
yacht_ai.theme | Light or dark theme | Kept after sign-out; a device setting, not your data |
yacht_ai_page_cache, yacht_ai_procedure_runs | Lets pages, documents and procedures open offline | Until you sign out |
yacht_ai_capture | Holds photos and notes taken offline until they upload | Until they upload (see below) |
yacht-api, yacht-images | Offline copies of recent screens and images | Up to 24 hours / 30 days, and cleared at sign-out |
yacht-fonts, yacht-next-static, start-url | App code and fonts, so the app starts fast | Up to a year; holds no personal data |
When you sign out we clear everything above that holds your data, except photos and notes you took offline that haven't uploaded yet. Those stay on the device so they aren't lost, and only your account can upload them. When you delete your account, we clear all of it.
How we use your information
- To run the service: store your records, answer your questions from your boat's own records and manuals, and file what you confirm.
- To process your uploads: read documents and photos, pull out facts, and match equipment to manuals.
- To handle mail sent to your boat's address: sort it, file what it contains the way the owner allowed, and send the owner copies.
- To send the manual requests you ask us to send to manufacturers.
- To apply the trial, usage limits and your subscription.
- To send you the notifications you have switched on, and the billing emails the law requires, such as your subscription confirmation and a reminder before your first charge. You can't switch those off.
- To keep the service working and secure: find and fix errors and misuse.
- To make the assistant more accurate: when an answer is flagged as wrong, we use that example to fix our instructions and to choose which model to use.
- To understand how yacht·ai is used, from anonymous, combined statistics such as which features get used, what the AI costs us and how much of the equipment catalog we cover. These statistics don't include your boat's records.
- To contact you about your early-access request.
AI processing and our no-training promise
yacht·ai uses AI models to read your documents and photos, transcribe voice notes, match equipment, answer your questions, and sort and read mail sent to your boat's address. The providers listed below run these models, and your content is sent to them only to do the task you asked for.
We never use your data to train AI models. Not ours, and not anyone else's. Every request we send through OpenRouter tells it to use only model providers that don't collect data for training, and TypeSafe, which runs our small models, doesn't train on the requests we send it.
This promise is ours, and it is in addition to Brokkr's platform rule that integrations may not train AI on your data. Using a flagged wrong answer to fix our instructions, or to compare models, is not training a model; we mention it so there are no surprises. Nor is building search indexes of your records: “training” means using your content to change a model's weights.
AI can be wrong. Answers cite the manual page they came from where they can, and anything the assistant wants to file is shown to you as a draft first. The one exception is mail from a sender the owner approved: it can file records on its own, within what the owner allowed that sender, and each one can be undone for 30 days. AI sorts and reads mail, but what mail may do is decided by the owner's choices, never by the AI or by what the mail says.
When a boat changes hands
When a boat is sold, its records go with it. For now we carry out the transfer ourselves, at the owner's request.
- What goes to the new owner: the facts about the boat: equipment, manuals, observations, service history, photos, invoices, and the outcomes of troubleshooting. The boat's email address goes too, so vendors can keep reaching the boat, along with every record filed from its mail.
- What doesn't: your conversations with the assistant. The new owner gets what the boat is, not what was said about it. The troubleshooting log kept for a problem reported on the boat is a boat record, so it does go. Nor does the mail the boat received, or the log of what that mail filed: we delete both at the transfer. Your own addresses come off the boat's approved senders; the vendors and manufacturers you approved stay on.
- Your access ends the moment the transfer completes.
- Boats a fleet operator set up for you: on the first transfer only, the operator keeps a limited service-provider role so they can keep logging work. The new owner can remove it at any time.
Sharing across boats
Each boat has a setting, “Help boats like yours”, that lets its service data join an anonymous pool grouped by equipment model, so owners of the same equipment can learn from each other's failures and service intervals.
- It is off by default. Only the boat's owner can switch it on, and they can switch it off again.
- For a boat a fleet operator set up, it stays off until the real owner decides.
- Before anything enters the pool we remove the boat ID, user IDs, owner identifiers, the vessel name and all location data, cut dates back to the month, and combine the result with other boats' data by equipment model.
- Once combined, pooled statistics no longer identify you or your boat, so they stay if you delete a boat or your account.
Today, nothing is pooled. The setting records your choice, but we have not started building the pool. We plan other opt-in sharing, such as solved troubleshooting cases; before any of it starts we will update this policy and ask you directly.
The shared manual library
yacht·ai keeps a shared library of equipment manuals that every boat can use. Most of it comes from manufacturers' public websites.
- Manuals you upload. If our checks confirm that a document you uploaded is the genuine manual for a piece of equipment, we add it to the shared library: the assistant can answer from it for other boats with the same model, and their owners can open its pages. Only the manual is shared, never your name or your boat. You can switch this off in Settings under “Help boats with your equipment”; that applies to manuals you upload from then on, and manuals already shared stay shared. If we gave you the link to a manual and the source's terms don't allow sharing, it stays on your boat whatever the setting.
- When you say whether a manual fits. Your answer applies to that equipment model for every boat, not just yours. Your name is not shown to anyone.
- Facts about equipment. yacht·ai also keeps a shared catalog of marine equipment: makes, models, parts and which manual fits which model. Equipment and part facts from your records can add to that catalog. They never include your name, your boat or where it is.
- Manuals and equipment facts in the shared library stay when you delete your account, because other boats rely on them. We don't attach your name or boat to them. If a manual you uploaded has personal details written or stamped in it, such as an owner's name or a hull number, email privacy@myachtai.com and we'll remove them or keep the manual private.
How long we keep things
You can delete a boat, or your whole account, at any time. Deleting your account, or uninstalling yacht·ai from Brokkr, deletes your stored files and then every record you own in one step: your boats and everything on them, conversations, photos, invoices, documents and the mail your boats received. There is no recycle bin and no undo. It also ends any subscription straight away, with no refund. The few things we keep are listed below.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your boats, records, files and conversations | Until you delete them or your account |
| Mail sent to your boat's address, its attachments, and the log of what it filed | Until you delete the boat or your account; deleted when the boat changes hands |
| Mail set aside as spam or marketing, and mail held back because too much arrived at once | 30 days |
| Records of mail sent to an address no boat uses | 30 days |
| The copy Amazon Web Services holds of each message as it arrives | Up to 7 days; deleted sooner when you delete your account |
| A deleted boat's email address | Held back for a year so nobody else can take it and receive the boat's mail; only the address itself is kept |
| Flagged-answer reports | Deleted with your account |
| Tool-call records | 90 days in full, then daily counts only; deleted with your account |
| Error records | Kept to track failures; your ID is removed when you delete your account |
| Usage and cost records | Kept for cost accounting; your link to them is removed when you delete your account |
| Early-access requests | Until you ask us to delete yours |
| Manual text and equipment facts in the shared library | Kept, because other boats rely on them |
| Payment and tax records, and the record that you accepted our Terms | Kept as the law requires, including after you delete your account; Stripe holds most of them |
| Backups | Deleted data can remain in our database provider's backups for a limited time before it is overwritten |

For anything else, such as a correction or deleting an early-access request, email privacy@myachtai.com.
Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit.
- Stored data is encrypted at rest by our database and hosting providers.
- Each boat's records are walled off in the database itself: it refuses records from boats you have no access to.
- Files are served through short-lived signed links.
- Mail files records on its own only when we can confirm it came from a sender the owner approved. Mail from anyone else never files anything without the owner.
- Sign-in goes through Brokkr, so we never see your password.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will tell you.
Children
yacht·ai is not meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email privacy@myachtai.com and we'll delete it.
Where your data is stored
We store your data in the United States. Boats travel, and so may you; wherever you use yacht·ai, your data is handled under this policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, such as a new kind of sharing, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and anything that needs your consent will ask for it.
