The short version
- Your records are yours. You own what you put into yacht·ai. You can get a copy, and you can delete it.
- We never train AI on your data. Not our models, and not anyone else’s.
- The trial never charges you. When your 60 days end, the assistant stops until you choose to subscribe. Your records stay yours either way.
- The subscription renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel any time in the app, and it takes effect at the end of the period you’ve paid for. We don’t refund partial months.
- If you stop paying, only the assistant stops. Your records stay readable, and we never delete them for non-payment.
- The assistant can be wrong. It is not a surveyor or a technician, and it never tells you a boat is safe to go to sea. On anything that can sink a boat or hurt someone, check the manual page it cites and a qualified technician.
- Mail to your boat’s address can file records for you. Only from senders you approve, only what you allow them, and you can undo it for 30 days.
- Manuals you upload help other boats. A genuine equipment manual you upload joins the shared library, unless you switch that off.
- If we ever shut down, you get at least 60 days’ notice and a full copy of your data.
The short version is a summary. The terms below are the agreement.
1. Who we are and this agreement
1.1 The parties. yacht·ai is provided by Community Chain LLC, a Washington limited liability company trading as Yacht AI (“we”, “us”). These Terms are an agreement between you and Community Chain LLC. On your card statement we appear as YACHT AI.
1.2 Brokkr. You sign in to yacht·ai with a Brokkr account. Brokkr is a separate company, and we are related to it. Brokkr’s own terms cover your Brokkr account and how you sign in. These Terms cover yacht·ai. Brokkr is not a party to these Terms and does not bill you for yacht·ai. Where Brokkr’s terms and these Terms disagree about anything other than your Brokkr account and sign-in, these Terms apply.
1.3 Accepting these Terms. You accept these Terms when you tap “Agree and continue” in the app, when you tick the box on our checkout page, or when you use yacht·ai after being shown them. If you don’t agree, don’t use yacht·ai. We record which version you accepted, when, and which version of the app you were using.
1.4 Who can use yacht·ai. You must be 18 or older, and so must anyone you invite. Each account belongs to one person. A shared device on board is fine, as long as each person signs in as themselves. If you use yacht·ai for a business, such as a fleet operator, broker, yard or management company, you confirm you have authority to accept these Terms for that business, and the business is bound by them.
1.5 Where we offer paid plans. Paid plans are available to customers with a billing address in the United States. You’re welcome to use yacht·ai while cruising abroad.
1.6 The privacy policy. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we handle it, and it is part of these Terms. If these Terms and the privacy policy ever disagree about your data, the privacy policy applies.
2. What yacht·ai is, and what it isn’t
2.1 The service. yacht·ai keeps your boat’s maintenance records: equipment, manuals, service history, invoices, photos and observations. It includes an AI assistant, “Ask AI”, that answers from your boat’s own records and manuals and shows you drafts of what it wants to file, for you to confirm.
2.2 What you’re paying for. A subscription buys the features that are live in the app when you pay. Features marked “Coming soon” are not part of what you’re paying for until they launch. These include connecting other AI assistants, deeper reasoning, cross-boat insights, buying credits and self-serve export. Some of them may come with their own short terms, which we’ll show you when you switch them on.
2.3 What yacht·ai is not. yacht·ai is not an official logbook. It is not a compliance record for the Coast Guard, a flag state or an insurer, and it is not a marine survey or a condition report.
2.4 Changes to the service. We improve yacht·ai all the time. We may add, change or remove features, and change the AI models and providers we use. We don’t promise that yacht·ai will always be available or free of errors. Some features, such as voice capture, are offered to selected users at our discretion.
2.5 Brokkr parts. yacht·ai may show you parts available on Brokkr. Brokkr is a related company. We don’t send Brokkr anything about you or your boat unless you act, for example by choosing to shop for a part.
3. Your account and the people on your boat
3.1 The owner decides. A boat’s owner controls its records and decides who else can see or add to them. If you invite someone, you’re responsible for having invited them. Each person you invite accepts these Terms for themselves.
3.2 What others add belongs to the boat. Anything a captain, crew member, manager or service provider adds to a boat becomes part of that boat’s records. The current owner controls those records, and they go with the boat if it’s sold. When someone’s access is removed, they can no longer see the boat’s records, and they don’t keep a copy.
3.3 Conversations are private. Your conversations with the assistant are yours. The boat’s owner can’t read them, and they don’t go to a buyer if the boat is sold. What the assistant files from a conversation after you confirm it does belong to the boat. That includes an observation, a service record, a procedure or a troubleshooting outcome. So does the step-by-step troubleshooting log kept for a problem reported on the boat: people who can see the boat’s history can read it, and it goes with the boat if it’s sold.
3.4 Fleet operators and brokers. If you set up boats for clients, you confirm you’re authorised to upload your clients’ documents. Boats you set up belong to your account until you transfer them to their owners. If your account is deleted, or yacht·ai is removed from your Brokkr account, before a transfer, those boats and their records are deleted too. Transfer boats to their owners early.
3.5 When a boat is sold. We transfer a boat’s records to its new owner when the current owner asks us to in writing. We may ask for proof of the sale. Before the transfer you can ask us for a copy of the boat’s records and see what will go to the buyer, invoices included. At the transfer, your access and everyone else’s you granted ends. The exception is the limited role a fleet operator keeps after the first transfer of a boat it set up. We’re not responsible for a transfer we make in good faith on the documents we’re given.
3.6 Recordings and photos of people. If you record a voice note or take a photo that captures other people, you confirm you have their permission.
3.7 Keep your account safe. You sign in through Brokkr. Keep your Brokkr sign-in to yourself, and tell us at support@myachtai.com if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Your subscription
4.1 Price and billing. The subscription costs the price shown when you subscribe, plus any sales tax, which is worked out from your billing address. It’s billed monthly in advance, in US dollars, through our payment processor, Stripe.
4.2 It renews automatically. Your subscription renews every month, and we charge your payment method each month, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, the app shows you the price, that it renews monthly, when your first charge will be and how to cancel, and asks you to agree. We then email you a confirmation.
4.3 The free trial. New accounts get a 60-day trial of yacht·ai with no card required. The trial never turns into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, the assistant stops until you choose to subscribe, and your records stay yours. If you subscribe during the trial, your first charge is on the day your trial would have ended, and you can cancel before then without being charged. We’ll email you 7 days before that first charge. If less than two days of trial are left when you subscribe, we charge you straight away. There is one trial per person. Creating another account, or deleting and re-joining, to get a new trial isn’t allowed.
4.4 Cancelling. Cancel any time in the app under Settings → Manage subscription, or email support@myachtai.com. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and the assistant keeps working until then.
4.5 No refunds. Subscription payments are non-refundable, and we don’t refund partial months, except where the law requires it. If we close your account without cause, or stop offering yacht·ai, we’ll refund the unused part of your current period and any unused paid credits.
4.6 Deleting your account ends your subscription immediately. If you delete your account, or remove yacht·ai from your Brokkr account, your subscription ends straight away, with no refund for the rest of the period, and any unused credits are lost. If you only want to stop paying, cancel instead, and you’ll keep the assistant until the end of the period.
4.7 Price changes. If we change the price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before your first renewal at the new price, with a link to cancel. The new price applies from that renewal. We’ll also remind you of your subscription terms once a year.
4.8 Changing plans. If we offer more than one plan and you move to a higher one partway through a billing period, the change takes effect straight away and we charge the difference for the rest of that period. A move to a lower plan takes effect from your next billing date.
4.9 Complimentary and pilot access. Complimentary, pilot, invitation and promotional access runs on the terms it was given with, and we can end it with notice. None of it is free forever.
4.10 Who a subscription covers. A subscription covers one person, on every boat they belong to. Other people on your boat, such as a captain or crew, need their own access once their own trial ends.
5. Usage limits
5.1 A usage limit applies. Your subscription includes AI use up to a usage limit, measured by the cost of the AI work you ask for. The app shows how much you’ve used and when it resets. When you reach the limit, the assistant pauses until your allowance resets, or until you use credits once they’re available. Your records aren’t affected.
5.2 How limits change. We may raise limits at any time. We only lower a subscriber’s limit from their next billing date, after telling you in the app, and never partway through a period you’ve already paid for. Trial limits may change at any time.
5.3 Reaching the limit is not a penalty. When you reach a limit we may review usage to keep the service working for everyone, and we might get in touch. It never leads to a charge, a penalty or back-billing.
6. Credits
We plan to offer credits for AI use beyond your subscription. When we do, their terms will be shown before you buy, and you’ll agree to them at checkout. Credits you buy are a prepaid right to use AI in yacht·ai. They are non-refundable, have no cash value, can’t be transferred or cashed out, and don’t expire. The rate at which a batch of credits is used, and the AI model it runs on, are fixed when you buy it. We’ll only move a batch to a newer model and rate if you agree. Promotional or earned credits we give you expire after the period stated when they’re given. Unused credits are lost if you delete your account.
7. If you stop paying
If your trial ends, your payment fails, you cancel, or complimentary access ends, only the assistant stops. That means Ask AI, manual search and reading newly uploaded documents; new uploads are kept and read once the assistant is back. Your records stay viewable and exportable. We never delete your records because you stopped paying, and we don’t chase unpaid amounts. If a payment fails, we retry it for about two weeks and the assistant keeps working in the meantime. If you have a problem with a charge, please email support@myachtai.com before disputing it with your bank. While a card dispute is open, we may pause the assistant; your records stay available.
8. Your content
8.1 You own it. You own what you put into yacht·ai: documents, photos, voice notes, notes and records.
8.2 What you let us do with it. You give us permission to do the following:
- store and process your content, including through the service providers listed in our privacy policy;
- show it to the people you give access to;
- carry out transfers you ask for;
- use it as described in section 9.
This covers content you added before accepting these Terms. Uploading a document is how you ask us to read it. We pull out the facts and show them to you as drafts to confirm. Mail sent to your boat’s address is read the same way, except that mail from a sender you approved can file records on its own under section 16. This permission can pass to anyone who takes over yacht·ai under section 14.7.
8.3 What you promise us. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload, including any information about other people in it. If we face a claim because content you uploaded infringed someone’s rights, or because you misused yacht·ai, you’ll cover our reasonable costs for that claim. That doesn’t apply to anything caused by our own negligence. If you use yacht·ai for a business, the business also covers our costs for client documents it uploaded without authority.
8.4 Records aren’t certified. yacht·ai doesn’t verify or certify records. A boat’s history in yacht·ai is what its owner and crew entered, plus what the assistant drafted and they confirmed. No buyer, insurer, lender, surveyor or anyone else may rely on those records as a statement from us about a boat’s condition.
10. Manuals and copyright
10.1 Manufacturers’ manuals. Most manuals in yacht·ai come from manufacturers’ public websites. They remain the manufacturers’ property. We show them to help you maintain your equipment, and we give you no right to redistribute them.
10.2 Copyright complaints. If you believe something in yacht·ai infringes your copyright, send a notice that meets the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our copyright agent: Copyright Agent, Community Chain LLC, support@myachtai.com. If your material is removed and you believe it was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
10.3 Manufacturers. If you’re a manufacturer and want a manual removed, corrected, kept private or featured, email support@myachtai.com.
11. AI answers and safety
11.1 The assistant can be wrong. The assistant’s answers, reminders, due dates and drafted procedures are information drawn from your boat’s records and manuals. They can be wrong or incomplete. They are not professional, engineering or technician advice, and they are not a survey.
11.2 yacht·ai never says a boat is safe. yacht·ai never judges that a boat or any of its systems is safe, ready or seaworthy. The skipper or operator is always responsible for the boat and the decision to use it. When you confirm a draft, it becomes your own record. So does a record that an approved sender’s mail files on its own under section 16.
11.3 Check before you act. Manual pages shown in yacht·ai may be machine-transcribed; the original document is the reference. For fuel, propane and LPG, carbon monoxide, steering, through-hulls and seacocks, bonding and shore power, bilge pumps and high-water alarms, fire suppression and life-saving equipment, check the manual page the assistant cites and have a qualified technician check the work. In an emergency, call the Coast Guard (VHF 16) or 911.
12. Disclaimers and limits of our liability
12.1 As is. yacht·ai is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
12.2 Losses we’re not responsible for. To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for indirect or consequential losses. These include loss or damage to a vessel, loss of use, towing, salvage, repair costs, and lost profits or data.
12.3 Our total liability. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you, and to anyone claiming through you (such as an insurer), for all claims about yacht·ai is limited to the greater of:
- what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim; or
- US$100.
12.4 What these limits don’t cover. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- our gross negligence or wilful misconduct;
- fraud;
- anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
Your rights under consumer-protection laws that can’t be waived still apply.
13. Using yacht·ai fairly
13.1 Don’t do these things.
- Scrape, bulk-download or bulk-export the manual library or the catalog.
- Access yacht·ai with scripts or automated tools, except through our apps and connectors we approve.
- Resell access to yacht·ai.
- Use yacht·ai or its outputs to build a competing catalog, dataset or AI model.
- Enter records or troubleshooting you know are false.
- Upload content you have no right to, or other people’s private documents.
- Get around usage limits, or use more than one account to reset a trial or a limit.
- Use a boat’s email address to receive or pass on spam or unlawful content.
13.2 What we do if you break these Terms.
- We usually start with a warning.
- If that doesn’t work, we may limit or pause the assistant.
- Then we may suspend or close your account.
- For serious harm, we may act straight away.
If we close your account, you have 30 days to get a copy of your data, unless the content itself is unlawful. After that, it’s deleted.
13.3 You can leave any time. You can stop using yacht·ai whenever you like, and delete your account in Settings → Your account.
14. Your data
14.1 The privacy policy governs your data. See section 1.6.
14.2 We never train AI on your data. We never use your content to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s. “Training” means using your content to change a model’s weights. Building search indexes for your records, and using an answer you flagged as wrong to fix our instructions or choose a better model, are not training. We tell you about both in the privacy policy. If you connect your own AI assistant to yacht·ai, what you send it is governed by that assistant’s terms.
14.3 Getting a copy. You can ask for a copy of your data at any time by emailing support@myachtai.com. We’ll send it within 30 days. We’re building a self-serve export into the app.
14.4 Deletion. Deleting your account, or removing yacht·ai from your Brokkr account, deletes your records immediately, and it can’t be undone. A few things remain:
- payment and tax records, which Stripe and we keep as the law requires;
- shared manuals and catalog facts under section 9;
- anonymous usage and error records that are no longer linked to you;
- backups, until they’re overwritten.
14.5 Your records go where you send them. We share a boat’s records with an insurer, lender, broker, buyer or surveyor only when its owner sends them. We don’t sell your data.
14.6 If we shut down. If we ever shut yacht·ai down, we’ll give you at least 60 days’ notice. You’ll have that time to get a full copy of your data, including your original documents and photos, before anything is deleted.
14.7 If yacht·ai changes hands. We may transfer these Terms and your data to an affiliate, or to a company that acquires or merges with yacht·ai, as long as it keeps the promises in these Terms and the privacy policy. We’ll tell you before that happens. If a new owner won’t keep these promises, section 14.6 applies. You can’t transfer your account to someone else; boats move by transfer under section 3.5.
15. Disputes
15.1 Talk to us first. If something goes wrong, email support@myachtai.com and give us 30 days to try to put it right before starting a claim.
15.2 Law and courts. Washington State law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may use small-claims court instead. Nothing here takes away consumer protections that the law of your home state doesn’t let you give up.
15.3 Card disputes. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights with your card issuer.
16. Your boat’s email address
16.1 The address. Each boat can have its own email address at boat.myachtai.com, which its owner chooses. We receive, store and process all mail sent to it, including mail from people outside yacht·ai, such as vendors and manufacturers. The owner decides who gets the address, and is responsible for that.
16.2 Approved senders. The owner can approve senders and choose what each one’s mail may do, such as filing invoices or adding procedures. By approving a sender, the owner authorises us to add records from that sender’s mail automatically, within the actions the owner chose, without asking first. We only do this when we can confirm the mail really came from that sender. Mail that would delete or overwrite a record never does so on its own. It waits for the owner as a draft, like anything else a sender isn’t approved for.
16.3 Undo. Anything filed this way can be undone for 30 days. If something added later depends on it, the app says what to undo first.
16.4 What senders send. Senders are responsible for what they send. We’re not responsible for the content of their mail, such as an invoice with the wrong amount, or a document that isn’t what it says it is. Check what’s filed, and undo or correct it.
16.5 Manual requests we send for you. If the owner switches on “Let yacht·ai send manual requests to manufacturers for me”, the owner authorises us to email manufacturers in the owner’s name, from the boat’s address, to ask for manuals. The owner is copied on every request, and we send at most two reminders. A request always says it comes from the owner, for the owner’s own boat. It never claims to come from a dealer. We limit how many requests go to each manufacturer, so a request may have to wait. If a manufacturer replies to a request asking us not to contact them, and we can confirm the reply came from them, we stop sending requests and reminders to that address for every boat. Our email provider also stops delivering to any address that bounces permanently. The owner can switch this setting off at any time.
16.6 Choosing an address. We may refuse an address, or take one back, if it impersonates a person, business or brand, is offensive, or infringes someone’s rights. An address belongs to its boat. It can’t be moved to another boat or sold, and it goes with the boat if the boat is sold. When a boat is deleted, its address can’t be used again for a year.
16.7 Limits. A message over 40 MB can’t be received. Upload large files in the app instead. We don’t promise that every message sent to a boat’s address will arrive or be processed. If something you expected doesn’t show up, upload it yourself.
17. Changes, notices and the rest
17.1 Changes to these Terms. For a significant change, we’ll tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and ask you to accept the new version. We never apply a change to how disputes are handled to a claim that already exists. Minor changes, such as wording or contact details, take effect when we post them with a new date. Earlier versions stay available at myachtai.com/terms.
17.2 Notices. We send notices to the email on your subscription or your Brokkr account, or show them in the app. Send notices to us at support@myachtai.com.
17.3 Signed agreements. If you’ve signed a separate agreement with us, such as a fleet, pilot or partner agreement, it wins over these Terms wherever the two differ.
17.4 The rest.
- These Terms, the privacy policy and any feature terms you accept are the whole agreement between us about yacht·ai.
- If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce something straight away, we haven’t given up the right to.
- Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside reasonable control.
